Berlinale Strategic meeting 10 February 2014.
The chairman reported that year 2013 had been a busy and challenging year for CineRegio in particular the turburlens around the Cinema Communaction, the EC’s launch of GBER for the film sector prior to the final publication of the Cinema Commuication, not to mention the surprise of the European Commission & Council deciding to include audiovisual in the EU-US Trade Free agreement negotiation mandate.
The meeting had two guest speakers, Roberto Olla who shared with us the “Experience of Eurimages on using Collecting Agency” and Ansgar Held from the European Commission who made an informative summary on the journey towards the publication of the new Cinema Communication and introduced us to the new draft GBER. For CineRegio the new Cinema Communication is a result of several years of work that took us through all levels in the European system, from meetings & correspondence with the officials in the Commission, to head of regions, national cultural ministers, MEPs, Commissioners’ cabinet staff and several Commissioners.
