Animarco Regio
ANIMARCO REGIO is a platform for Cine-Regio members with a specific interest in supporting and co-producing animation (incl. promoting producers & talent from their region). The sub-group is headed up by Cine-Regio member MFG Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
Animarco-Regio meetings
At the ANIMARCO meeting on the 9th of June, 2010, in Annecy, France, there was a focus on co-production and case-studies. The participants discussed how case-studies might be a way forward to substantiate, exemplify and increase the potential of joint co-productions between members of Cine-Regio.
They also dicussed the distribution of animation films in Europe and problems related to that.
An ANIMARCO meeting took place during Annecy Film Festival/Market 10-12 June 2009. At the meeting, the participants discussed three subjects, namely; "the financial situation for animation funding in the European regions", "possible barriers of co-production" and "how to stimulate the artistic, technical and creative exchange between the Cine-Regio member regions".
The 2nd ANIMARCO meeting took place during Cartoon Movie in Lyon, March 2009. Collaboration between Cartoon organisation and Cine-Regio had led to invitation to Cine-Regio members which have not previously attended Cartoon Movie. At the meeting further discussion took place on how to improve the basis for valuable European co-productions and the current situation on the animation sector in the different European countries/regions. Dialogue was based on sent in facts and figures by every participant and it was decided to carry out further mapping. The last topic discussed was the situation regarding public broadcasters and how the European regional film funds should regroup themselves, the broadcasters, producers and distributors.
The first ANIMARCO-REGIO meeting took place during Cannes Film Festival, May 2008. An introduction to the situation for animation in the various regions were presented and it was decided to continue the dialogue on how to improve the basis for valuable and promising European co-productions.
